Position Details
Position: Food Production Associate
Number of Positions: 2
Employment Type: Full-Time
Wage: $18.00 per hour
Schedule: Sunday to Thursday
Shift: 8-hour shifts
Location: Scarborough, Ontario
Job Responsibilities
As a Food Production Associate, you will play an important role in the preparation and production of our ready-to-eat meals. Duties may vary depending on production requirements and may include:
- Washing, cutting, slicing, peeling, and preparing vegetables, fruits, and other ingredients.
- Measuring, weighing, and portioning ingredients according to production specifications.
- Preparing proteins, sauces, grains, and meal components.
- Assembling, packaging, labeling, and sealing meal trays and food products.
- Operating commercial kitchen equipment, including Rational ovens, food processors, slicers, scales, vacuum sealers, and other food preparation equipment.
- Performing quality checks to ensure products meet company standards.
- Following recipes, production schedules, and written work instructions accurately.
- Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of workstations, utensils, equipment, and production areas.
- Following all food safety, HACCP, health, and workplace safety procedures.
- Supporting other production departments as required to meet daily production targets.
- Maintaining a positive attitude while working collaboratively with team members.
Qualifications
The successful candidate should:
- Have previous experience in food manufacturing, commercial kitchens, catering, or food preparation (required).
- Be knowledgeable in the safe use of commercial kitchen equipment, including Rational ovens and food preparation machinery.
- Demonstrate safe and efficient knife handling skills.
- Be able to read, write, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Work well independently as well as in a team environment.
- Be dependable, punctual, and committed to regular attendance.
- Be comfortable working in a refrigerated food production environment.
- Be able to stand for the duration of an 8-hour shift.
- Be capable of lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs (13 kg).
- Have basic computer skills, which are considered an asset.
- Be committed to maintaining high standards of food quality, cleanliness, and workplace safety.
