Responsibilities will include:
Accounting
- Prepare and post routine journal entries.
- Perform month end and year end accounting activities, including account reconciliations and financial analysis.
- Accurately enter and maintain financial data and supporting documentation in the accounting system
- Monitor outstanding receivables, vendor payments, and other financial transactions, investigating and resolving discrepancies as required.
- Review, reconcile, and clear general ledger accounts on a timely basis.
- Provide administrative and accounting support to other departments as required.
- Assist with yearend audit tasks.
- Prepare and file GST/PST returns
Accounts Payable
- Prepare and process electronic funds transfers (EFTs) and other payments.
- Investigate payment discrepancies and work with internal departments
- Print cheques from QuickBooks.
Accounts Receivable
- Administer and invoice Convyta expenses for reimbursement from the various plans.
- Monitor outstanding receivables and work with internal departments to trace the receivables.
- Collect admin fees from various plans.
Bank Reconciliation
- Update daily cash flow updates for the various plans.
- Financial administration for various plans.
- Administer expense reconciliation.
- Reconcile systems vs actual expense reconciliation.
- Reconcile Individual Premium payments from various plans.
Work Experience:
- Post-secondary education or formal training in financial management
- At least two years’ previous accounting experience, preferably within a pension, finance and analytics, and concise phone manner.
- Demonstrated organizational skills to effectively prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
- Effective interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to handle confidential information with tact and discretion.
- Working knowledge and understanding of accounting principles.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively, both independently and as part of a team.
- Advanced level skills using a variety of computerized software packages such as Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook), related databases and Internet.
