Team Lead / Senior Network Administrator

St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic School Division No. 38 is seeking a qualified Team Lead / Senior Network Administrator to join our technology team. This full-time position based out of the main office in Leduc, Alberta and will commence on September 1, 2026, or until a suitable candidate is found.
Position Overview
The Team Lead / Senior Network Administrator plays a critical role in maintaining and advancing the technology infrastructure of STAR Catholic. Working in close collaboration with the Director of Technology, this position provides senior-level technical leadership across a hybrid environment that spans on-premises Hyper-V clusters, cloud services, and enterprise platforms including Microsoft Azure, Active Directory, Microsoft Intune, Google Workspace, and backup systems. The successful candidate will lead infrastructure operations, mentor technical staff, and ensure the security, reliability, and performance of Division-wide systems, supporting schools and Central Office in delivering secure, effective, technology-enabled learning environments.
Required Skills & Qualifications
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following:
- Minimum five years of experience within STAR Catholic, or three or more years in a comparable senior IT role at another organization, with demonstrated ability to manage enterprise-level infrastructure.
- Strong working knowledge of server virtualization and on-premises infrastructure, including Hyper-V environments, Storage Spaces Direct clusters, and System Center Virtual Machine Manager (VMM).
- Expertise in cloud identity and device management platforms, including Microsoft Azure Entra ID, conditional access policies, and Microsoft Intune compliance and endpoint management.
- Proficiency in network infrastructure management, including Layer 3 switching, VLANs, wireless systems, DNS, and SSL/TLS certificate lifecycle management across multi-site environments.
- Hands-on experience with enterprise backup and recovery operations, including monitoring and data restoration.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and provide technical direction to a team of IT professionals, including supporting onboarding and participating in staff hiring processes.
- Strong security acumen, with experience implementing and maintaining security baselines, access controls, and compliance policies across both cloud and on-premises systems.
Completion of a technology-related diploma or degree from a recognized post-secondary institution (e.g., NAIT, SAIT, MacEwan University, Red Deer Polytechnic, or equivalent), along with a valid driver's license.
