Lead Carpenter / Renovation Site Supervisor
JMZ Contracting is hiring an experienced Lead Carpenter to join our growing team.
We are a locally owned and operated renovation company committed to creating beautiful, high-quality spaces for homeowners through excellent craftsmanship, strong communication, and attention to detail.
We are seeking a skilled and dependable carpenter who is confident leading a crew, overseeing residential renovation projects, and completing high-quality carpentry work. The ideal candidate is an experienced problem-solver who can take ownership of a job site, coordinate daily tasks, and help ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to JMZ Contracting’s standards.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support a team of carpenters and labourers
- Oversee daily activities and workflow on residential renovation job sites
- Assign tasks and provide clear direction to team members
- Read and interpret drawings, plans, and project specifications
- Identify and resolve job-site challenges
- Monitor workmanship, project progress, and material requirements
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Communicate professionally with homeowners, coworkers, subcontractors, and management
- Complete a variety of renovation and remodelling work, including:
- Framing
- Finish carpentry
- Cabinet and millwork installation
- Drywall installation and repair
- Flooring installation
- Tiling
- Door, trim, and baseboard installation
- General use of hand and power tools
- Ensure work is completed accurately and meets company quality standards
Qualifications
- Several years of residential carpentry or renovation experience
- Red Seal Carpenter certification is preferred
- Previous leadership, foreperson, or job-site supervision experience is an asset
- Strong knowledge of residential construction and renovation practices
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Good communication and organizational skills
- Reliable, punctual, and able to take ownership of assigned projects
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Ability to safely perform physically demanding work
- Commitment to workplace safety and high-quality craftsmanship
