We’re looking for a Carpenter / Skilled Technician to join our restoration and construction team. This role involves a wide range of construction, repair, and restoration tasks for residential and commercial properties — including framing, drywall, flooring, trim, cabinetry, and finish work. You’ll also assist with emergency tear-outs and rebuilds following water, fire, or storm damage.
The ideal candidate has strong carpentry skills, takes pride in quality workmanship, and can work independently or lead a small crew. Attention to detail, professionalism, and a commitment to safety are essential.
Key ResponsibilitiesCarpentry & Restoration• Perform framing, drywall, flooring, trim, cabinetry, and finish carpentry.
- Repair or replace walls, ceilings, stairs, windows, and other structural elements according to code.
- Install and finish drywall to a smooth, paint-ready surface.
- Complete emergency tear-outs and mitigation work following insurance guidelines.
- Assist with reconstruction and finishing following fire, flood, or storm damage.
- Set up and remove drying equipment and containment barriers as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Follows written scope and specifications to determine methods, materials, and tools.
- Understand and follow local building codes and regulations.
Teamwork & Leadership• Lead and support crew members to complete work efficiently and to company standards.
- Mentor junior carpenters and labourers on tools, techniques, and trade standards.
- Conduct pre-job walkthroughs and review the scope of work with team members.
- Communicate effectively with Project Managers, clients, and adjusters regarding job progress.
Health & Safety• Follow all Occupational Health & Safety legislation and company safety policies.
- Identify and report hazards or unsafe conditions immediately.
- Maintain a safe job site through good housekeeping and proper equipment use.
- Ensure all equipment, PPE, tools and materials are in working order and on the truck before leaving the building.
Administrative & Communication• Use mobile apps and software (PSA, Docusketch, etc.) to upload photos, notes, and documentation.
- Ensure proper documentation and signatures for work authorizations, change orders, and completion forms.
- Support PMs with reporting material needs, sub-trades, and project progress.
- Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours emergency response.
- Ensure all job-related paperwork is completed and the finished product meets standards.
Qualifications & Skills• Minimum 3–5 years of carpentry or restoration experience.
- Strong knowledge of framing, finishing, and general construction practices.
- Ability to read blueprints and follow written scopes of work.
- Annual WHMIS certification is required.
- Valid G driver’s license with a clean abstract.
- Experience in disaster restoration (water, fire, storm) is an asset.
- Proficient with mobile devices and basic job management software.
- Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills.
- Commitment to quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.
- Willingness to learn new methods and techniques.
- Must be able to lift at minimum 50 lbs. on a routine basis.
- Emergency or Standard First Aid is an asset.
- Working at Heights certification is an asset.
