Job Description
Our Team is Expanding! We are looking for a Working Mining Field Supervisor.
This hands-on individualwould be responsible for the safe and efficient utilization of tradespeople on any assigned projects as well as working alongside the crew 50% of the time. Oversight will include being a leader in safety in practice and in documentation. Allocation of tradespeople ensuring best utilization of the available workforce, ensuring all work is done to the highest standard.
- This position is field based, with home base located in Spruce Grove Alberta.
- The shift rotation for this position is open to discussion.
- The salary range for this position will be very competitive.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Ensure all work is performed in a safe manner, by performing job observations, site inspections and setting safety standards and expectations. 4M guidelines to be followed along with the customers sites.
- Provide daily updates to customers and management team.
- Ensure that operational requirements are met by supervising the activities of all tradespeople who repair and maintain equipment on customer sites.
- Assure a quality product by conducting in-process inspections.
- Guide and mentor technicians when needed by example and working with them.
- Rectify hazards and issues promptly and escalate unresolved issues to the next level of management.
- Bring awareness to safety by participating in all Company safety programs.
- Lead onsite toolbox talks.
- Timely submission of required safety and quality documents.
- Communication of information and messages from leadership to the work force, and vice versa.
- Attend customer meetings as required.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will possess a Journeyperson HET or equivalent trade certification with a minimum of 7 years experience as a qualified tradesperson. Additional requirements include:
- Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience and proven ability to oversee and coordinate a team of people.
- Thorough knowledge of maintenance and repair of ultra class hydraulic mining shovels experience is required. Komatsu PC2000-PC 8000 and Hitachi EX1800-EX8000
- Strong mechanical aptitude with troubleshooting experience, ability to execute complex tasks.
- Good computer skills.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of OHSE acts and regulations and equipment inspection requirements.
- Proficient in problem-solving and decision-making.
- Valid Drivers License with clean drivers abstract.
- Self motivated person that takes initiative to solve project management tasks.
- Must be able to access any of the wood buffalo work sites (no site bans)
This position is a safety sensitive position, you will be required to complete the following to gain access to customer sites.

In addition to the above, the successful candidate will be expected to exercise sound judgment, work safely, and communicate effectively in a team. This position is physically demanding and requires crouching, bending, lifting, and kneeling.
