Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CNC Operator to join our stone fabrication team. The successful candidate will operate and maintain a CNC machining center used for fabricating granite, quartz, marble, and other natural and engineered stone products. Experience operating Breton CNC machines is highly preferred. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, be committed to producing high-quality work, and prioritize safety in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and monitor CNC machinery for the fabrication of granite, quartz, marble, and other stone materials.
- Read and interpret shop drawings, CAD files, production schedules, and work orders.
- Load, align, secure, and unload stone slabs safely using appropriate lifting equipment.
- Verify dimensions, profiles, cutouts, edge details, and finished products against specifications.
- Perform machining operations including cutting, drilling, routing, polishing, sink cutouts, faucet holes, and edge profiling.
- Conduct quality inspections throughout the production process to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Make machine offsets and minor program adjustments when required.
- Perform daily machine maintenance, cleaning, lubrication, and routine inspections.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and report mechanical or software problems promptly.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Work collaboratively with programmers, production staff, and installers to meet production deadlines.
- Follow all company safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, quality, and efficiency.
Qualifications & ExperienceRequired
- Minimum 2 years of experience operating CNC machinery in a manufacturing or stone fabrication environment.
- Experience machining granite, quartz, marble, or other natural and engineered stone materials.
- Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, fabrication drawings, and technical specifications.
- Strong understanding of measuring tools and quality control procedures.
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot minor machine issues.
- Ability to safely operate overhead cranes, vacuum lifters, forklifts, or other material handling equipment (or willingness to become certified).
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a physically demanding manufacturing environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality workmanship.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
Preferred
- Experience operating Breton CNC stone fabrication machines.
- Familiarity with CAD/CAM software and CNC programming used in stone fabrication.
- Experience with CNC bridge saws, edge polishers, or other automated stone processing equipment.
- Knowledge of tooling, feeds, speeds, and machining parameters for natural and engineered stone.
