Fibertel Communications is a commercial construction technology contractor specializing in the design, installation, and integration of complete low-voltage building systems. Our work sits at the intersection of structured cabling infrastructure and the technology devices that rely on it—recognizing that successful systems are built when both are planned and executed together.
We deliver end-to-end low-voltage solutions within commercial buildings, providing the physical cabling backbone as well as the IP-based and electronic systems that operate on top of that infrastructure. Our project scopes commonly include:
- Structured copper and fiber cabling for commercial and institutional buildings
- Access Control systems
- Video Surveillance systems
- Intrusion Detection systems
- Public address and mass notification systems
- Integrated low-voltage and IP-based smart building technologies
- Audiovisual systems
Fibertel works primarily within occupied and new commercial construction environments, coordinating closely with Electrical Contractors, General Contractors, and other trades to ensure technology systems are properly sequenced, installed, tested, and turned over. Whether delivered as part of a larger construction project or directly for an end user, our focus remains on inside-the-building systems that require tight coordination between infrastructure, devices, and commissioning.
By combining experienced field crews with in-house subject matter experts across cabling and technology disciplines, Fibertel delivers complete, standards-based systems—not isolated components. This integrated approach allows us to support modern building requirements for connectivity, security, and communication with reliability and scalability in mind.
We are seeking an experienced Technology Project Manager to lead the execution of low-voltage construction projects, serving as the primary point of coordination between clients, trade partners, and Fibertel’s internal technical experts.
The Technology Project Manager is responsible for the successful delivery of low-voltage technology projects within active construction environments. This role manages scope, schedule, cost, and communication while coordinating the efforts of internal subject matter experts (SMEs), field operations, and external stakeholders.
Projects will most often be delivered as a subcontractor to Electrical Contractors on commercial construction sites, requiring strong trade coordination and an understanding of construction workflows. From time to time, this role will also manage direct-to-end-user projects, where Fibertel serves as the prime contractor and primary client interface.
The ideal candidate is a construction-savvy project manager who understands how to operate effectively on job sites, manage subcontractor relationships, and drive outcomes through planning, communication, and accountability—while leveraging internal technical expertise as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Construction Project Management
- Manage low-voltage projects from contract award through closeout within active commercial construction sites
- Coordinate closely with Electrical Contractors, General Contractors, and other trades to align sequencing, access, and site readiness
- Interpret contract documents, scopes of work, drawings, and specifications to ensure accurate execution
- Lead project kickoff meetings, progress meetings, and closeout meetings
Schedule, Cost & Scope Control
- Develop and maintain project schedules aligned with overall construction timelines
- Track labor, materials, and subcontractor costs to maintain budget and margin targets
- Manage change orders, RFIs, and scope clarifications in coordination with clients and trade partners
- Identify risks, constraints, and conflicts early and proactively resolve or escalate
SME & Internal Team Coordination
- Engage Fibertel’s internal subject matter experts for system design review, technical validation, and problem-solving
- Translate technical input into clear plans and expectations for field teams and external stakeholders
- Coordinate with estimating, design, procurement, and operations to ensure timely material delivery and resource allocation
Field & Operations Alignment
- Work closely with field foremen and operations leadership to ensure manpower, sequencing, and productivity align with the project plan
- Monitor job site progress, quality, and compliance with Fibertel operational and safety standards
- Support commissioning, testing, documentation, and system turnover
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Serve as Fibertel’s primary representative to Electrical Contractors, GCs, consultants, and end users
- Maintain clear, professional communication throughout the project lifecycle
- Ensure client expectations are managed and met across both construction-driven and direct-to-end-user projects
Experience & Qualifications
Required
- Proven experience as a Project Manager within commercial construction, preferably in a subcontractor role
- Strong understanding of construction site workflows, trade coordination, and project documentation
- Demonstrated ability to manage schedules, budgets, and multiple stakeholders simultaneously
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
Preferred / Considered Strong Assets
- Experience with low-voltage systems, including:
- Security systems (access control, intrusion detection, video surveillance)
- Structured cabling, fiber optics, control wiring, or related infrastructure
- Background working with or under Electrical Contractors
- Experience managing projects directly for end users as the prime contractor
- Familiarity with construction management software, scheduling tools, and documentation platforms
Note: Deep technical expertise in any single low-voltage discipline is not required. Fibertel employs internal subject matter experts who support system design and technical execution. Success in this role is driven by strong project leadership, coordination, and construction acumen.
Why Fibertel?
- Work alongside experienced technical specialists and field leaders
- Exposure to a wide variety of commercial construction and end-user environments
- Opportunity to lead projects with real operational impact
- A collaborative culture that values accountability, communication, and execution
