Overview
We are seeking a talented and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Japanese cuisine, particularly sushi preparation, and possess excellent knife skills and attention to detail. Duties
- Prepare a variety of sushi and sashimi according to traditional recipes and restaurant standards
- Ensure all ingredients are fresh, properly stored, and prepared in accordance with health regulations
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station before, during, and after service
- Assist in developing new sushi menu items to keep offerings innovative and appealing
- Monitor inventory levels of seafood, rice, nori, and other ingredients, notifying management when supplies are low
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely delivery of dishes during busy service hours
- Adhere strictly to food safety and sanitation policies at all times
- Educate junior staff or trainees on proper sushi preparation techniques when needed
Skills
- Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or similar role in a professional kitchen setting
- Strong knowledge of Japanese cuisine, especially sushi rolling techniques and presentation skills
- Excellent knife skills with precision cutting abilities
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Attention to detail to ensure consistency in taste, appearance, and portioning
- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
- Knowledge of food safety standards and sanitation procedures
