BCIN Architectural Technologist / Residential Building Designer (Contract)
Overview
We are a growing residential renovation company based in Orangeville, Ontario, looking to establish an ongoing relationship with an experienced BCIN-certified Architectural Technologist or Residential Building Designer.
This is a contract/freelance position on an as-needed basis, typically ranging from 1–4+ projects per month. We are looking for someone reliable who can assist with permit drawings, site visits, and permit submissions for residential renovation and addition projects throughout Orangeville and the surrounding areas.
Responsibilities
- Conduct site visits to take measurements and assess existing conditions.
- Prepare permit drawings for residential renovations, additions, basement finishes, garages, decks, and other residential projects.
- Ensure drawings comply with the Ontario Building Code and municipal requirements.
- Prepare permit application packages.
- Coordinate with structural engineers when required.
- Revise drawings based on municipal comments.
- Communicate with our team throughout the design and permit process.
- Manage multiple projects while meeting agreed-upon deadlines.
Qualifications
- BCIN certification (preferred).
- Experience preparing residential permit drawings in Ontario.
- Strong knowledge of the Ontario Building Code.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (Revit is an asset).
- Ability to conduct site measurements and travel throughout Orangeville and surrounding areas.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation.

Compensation
