Pacific Prowler is a family-owned seafood business specializing in wild, sustainably caught wild fish from the BC coast. We’re looking for a dependable, self-motivated Shop Manager to oversee the day-to-day operation of our retail shop.
This is a key leadership role in a small business. We are looking for someone who is comfortable managing operations independently, making decisions, and ensuring our customers always receive a high-quality experience.
Responsibilities
- Independent Management: Run the shop’s daily operations with reliability
- Store Operations: Manage opening/closing, security, end-of-day sales, etc.
- Order & Logistics Management: Pull and pack customer orders, organize outbound shipping, and ensure all invoices are accurately issued and tracked.
- Manage point-of-sale (POS) systems, cash handling, cashiering duties, and bookkeeping to ensure accurate financial transactions.
- Customer Connection: Act as the face of the Pacific Prowler Shop, building relationships with locals & tourists, via in-person, phone & email.
- Inventory & Digital Management: Maintain stock levels both in-store and online; order fulfillment, packaging and labelling.
- Quality Control: Ensure the highest standards of cleanliness and food safety are met every single day.
Who Are You:
- Responsible & Trustworthy: You take pride and have the confidence to be the person “in charge” and can be counted on to keep things running smoothly
- Retail & Service Savvy: You have experience in retail, food service, or small business and understand how to provide premium customer service.
- Tech-Comfortable: You are confident using POS systems, updating website inventory (Shopify), and communicating via email/text.
- Organized: You have a “systems” brain and enjoy keeping a space tidy, labelled, and efficient.
- Community-Minded: You enjoy the Salt Spring lifestyle, community mindset and have an interest in local, sustainable food systems.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
- Food Safe Level 1 is an asset (or a willingness to obtain it).
