Aurora Montessori School is a co-educational Montessori private school located in the heart of Aurora, Ontario on 14 acres of natural conservation lands. AMS delivers robust Montessori programming to students aged Toddler to Grade 8 in a 36,000 sq. ft facility with multiple state of the art playground areas, an outdoor amphitheatre and outdoor classroom, a gymnasium with a performance stage, and much more.

Position Overview
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Learning Strategies teacher to support students in Grades 1–8. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with classroom teachers, administrators, and families to provide targeted academic and social-emotional support, ensuring all students can access the curriculum and reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
Provide individualized and small-group instruction to students with diverse learning needs
Collaborate with Montessori classroom teachers to adapt curriculum and learning materials
Read and interpret psycho-educational assessments to develop, implement, and monitor Student Learning Profiles and Support Plans
Conduct informal and formal benchmark assessments to inform instruction and track progress
In collaboration with the Director of Student Life and Well-Being, support students with executive functioning, self-regulation, and social skills development
Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and strategies for support
Liaise with external professionals (e.g., psychologists, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists) when appropriate
With the VP of Academics, facilitate professional development for staff to improve student academic success
Contribute to a positive, inclusive school culture aligned with Montessori values
Maintain accurate documentation and participate in general, division and level meetings
Supply coverage, if needed, in Elementary classrooms
Elementary Learning Strategist
Actively participate in the life of the school, including but not limited to, open houses, parent education evenings, parent interview evenings, and other extracurricular community events as required
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) and Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certification in good standing (or equivalent)
Additional qualifications in Special Education (Part 1 minimum; Specialist preferred)
Experience working with students in Grades 1–8 with a range of learning needs
Knowledge of differentiated instruction, universal design for learning (UDL), and tiered intervention models
Montessori training (AMI, MACTE, or equivalent) is an asset, or willingness to obtain training
Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills
Demonstrated ability to build strong, supportive relationships with students and families

The Learning Strategies educator is a full-time employee of the school, working an average of 35 hours a week, some evenings, and some weekends, throughout the school year. Compensation ranges from $50,000.00 – $65,000.00 (10 months).
