Overview
We are seeking a highly organised and experienced Production Planner to join our team. This new role will be a part of our expanding Operations team reporting to the VP Operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the planning and purchasing functions of our business, ensuring optimal inventory levels, timely production schedules, and cost-effective sourcing of materials. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Production Planning:
- Develop and implement strategic purchasing plans aligned with brewery objectives and production schedules.
- Collaborate with production managers to develop and maintain production schedules based on demand forecasts and material availability.
- Ensure seamless coordination between purchasing, production, and logistics teams to meet production targets.
- Design the master production schedule to minimize allergen cross-contact risks. Schedule allergen-containing brands (e.g., beers utilizing lactose, wheat, nuts, or fruits) at the end of a production run or right before a full Clean-In-Place (CIP) cycle.
Purchasing Management:
- Source and negotiate contracts with suppliers related to brewing such as raw materials, chemicals, utilities etc.
- Evaluate supplier performance based on quality, cost, delivery, and service levels.
- Monitor purchasing costs and identify opportunities for cost savings through negotiation and process improvements.
- Verify that all purchasing contracts require suppliers to meet explicit food safety and quality specifications, with clear protocols for handling non-conforming materials.
- Ensure all raw materials, ingredients, processing aids, and primary packaging materials are sourced only from vendors on the company’s Approved Supplier List.
Inventory Optimization:
- Manage raw materials and ingredients inventory levels through ERP system to meet production demands while minimizing carrying costs and waste.
- Implement raw materials inventory control measures to ensure accuracy and efficiency in stock management.
- Develop inventory forecasting models and strategies to prevent shortages and overstock situations.
- Supplier Relationship Management:
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with suppliers through regular communication and collaboration.
- Resolve supplier-related issues promptly and effectively to minimize disruptions in the supply chain.
- Collect, track, and maintain up-to-date food safety documentation from suppliers prior to onboarding and annually thereafter (including GFSI certificates, COAs [Certificates of Analysis], Allergen Statements, and Safety Data Sheets).
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
- Proven experience (3+ years) in procurement, supply chain management, or related role within the beverage industry, preferably in a brewery or similar environment.
- Strong negotiation, contract management, and supplier relationship management skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail.
- Proficient in inventory management software, ERP systems, and Google docs.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across departments.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards applicable to brewery operations.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.

Pay: $55,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
