Electrical Estimator – Possibility for a Hybrid Position
Our Vancouver client, a trusted premier electrical contractor to many lower mainland builders, commercial contractors, property managers and home and business owners, is recruiting for an Electrical Estimator.
Reporting to the General Manager, the Electrical Estimator calculates the costs of labor, materials, and equipment needed for electrical construction projects; analyze blueprints and specifications to prepare accurate, competitive bids that will help the company win projects while ensuring the project remains profitable.
Key Responsibilities
- Blueprint Analysis: Interpret technical drawings, schematic designs, and building specifications to understand the project's scope.
- Material Quantity Takeoffs: Calculate the exact amounts and costs of wires, conduits, fixtures, and panels.
- Labour Estimation: Determine the number of hours and specialized personnel required to complete the installation.
- Vendor and Subcontractor Coordination: Solicit, compare and negotiate quotes from material suppliers and specialty subcontractors.
- Bid Preparation: Compile all data into a formal bid package, submit it to the client and participate in bid review meetings.
- Risk Evaluation: Assess potential risks, such as material price fluctuations (e.g., copper) and project delays, and prepare contingencies

Qualifications & Skills
- Education: A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, construction management or an Electrician certification/diploma.]
- Software Proficiency: 5+ years of experience Trimble Accubid (required)
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office (especially Excel)
- Analytical Skills: High degree of mathematical accuracy and attention to detail
- Communication: Ability to write clear proposals, manage RFIs (Requests for Information), and collaborate with Engineers, Architects, and clients
- Able to manage multiple bids
- Identify scope gaps, risks and pricing issues
- Validate supplier/subcontractor pricing
- Deliver complete, accurate bids on tight deadlines
- Able to work from a Home Office with minimum supervision
