Job Summary
The Gingerbread House Inn is seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented Housekeeping, Cleaning & Laundry Team Member to join our hospitality operations. In this role, you will be responsible for room turnovers, maintaining pristine common areas, and managing laundry services. This position is crucial to ensuring an exceptional, welcoming experience for all our guests.
Working Hours & Schedule
- Standard Hours: Generally 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with flexibility required based on seasonal and operational hospitality needs.
- Availability: As a 365-day hospitality operation, the successful candidate must be available to work weekends and statutory holidays as part of the regular rotation.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Room Turnover & Cleaning: Perform thorough, hands-on cleaning of guest rooms and common areas, including dusting, vacuuming, mopping, sanitizing surfaces, and changing bed linens and towels.
- Laundry Management: Execute daily laundry operations, including washing, drying, folding, and distributing linens and towels efficiently.
- Inventory & Supply Management: Maintain accurate records of cleaning products, linens, and guest amenities; ensure storage areas remain organized and fully stocked.
- Maintenance Reporting: Promptly document and report any facility maintenance issues, damaged items, or safety hazards to management.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure all cleaning and laundry tasks are performed in accordance with the Nova Scotia Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) Act and WHMIS guidelines.
- Guest Relations: Provide excellent customer service by responding promptly, warmly, and professionally to guest requests and inquiries.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: Previous experience in hotel housekeeping, short-term rental turnovers, or professional residential/commercial cleaning services is required (5 years preferred).
- Certifications: Valid WHMIS Certification is required before starting.
- Work Ethic: Strong attention to detail, exceptional time management, and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Language: Professional proficiency in English (verbal and written) is required to communicate effectively with guests and staff.
- Reliability: Must be able to reliably commute to Wolfville, NS, or have concrete plans to relocate before commencing work.

Physical Demands & Working Conditions
To successfully perform the essential duties of this role, candidates must be able to meet the following physical requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation:
- Lift & Carry: Safely lift and manage loads up to 50 lbs (e.g., heavy laundry bags, commercial vacuums, and bulk supplies).
- Stair Navigation: Navigate up to 4 flights of stairs while carrying supplies, as our heritage properties do not have elevators.
- Mobility: Perform repetitive bending, kneeling, crouching, and reaching to sanitize surfaces, clean under furniture, and make beds.
- Stamina: Sustain prolonged standing and walking throughout the duration of a shift.
