Overview
EnoPower is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior System Engineer to join our growing Research & Development team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent engineering graduate who is passionate about hardware, software, and emerging energy technologies.
In this multidisciplinary role, you will work closely with our Hardware R&D, Software Development, and Product Strategy teams to support the development of next-generation energy storage and power management systems. Your responsibilities will include component research, hardware assembly, laboratory testing, technical documentation, and maintaining alignment between engineering activities and the company’s product roadmap.
A key focus of this role is producing high-quality engineering documentation that supports Canada’s Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) program while helping ensure our hardware, software, and business strategy remain synchronized throughout product development.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with hardware assembly, prototype setup, and laboratory testing.
- Research and evaluate hybrid inverters, batteries, BMS, communication devices, sensors, and other electrical components.
- Participate in testing hybrid inverters, battery systems, Modbus communication, failover performance, and system integration.
- Record, organize, and analyze laboratory testing results.
- Maintain detailed engineering documentation, technical journals, test reports, and meeting notes to support SR&ED claims.
- Build and maintain an organized internal engineering knowledge base.
- Coordinate communication between the Hardware R&D, Software Development, and Product Strategy teams.
- Help ensure engineering activities remain aligned with the company’s product roadmap and business plan.
- Identify documentation gaps, technical inconsistencies, and opportunities for process improvement.
- Assist with internal technical quality control to ensure engineering work remains consistent with the intended system architecture.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Design Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Candidates with an advanced diploma in Engineering Technology and strong technical aptitude are also encouraged to apply.
- Basic understanding of power electronics, AC/DC electrical systems, and battery technologies.
- Familiarity with Linux, Python, and embedded systems.
- Familiarity with communication protocols such as Modbus RTU/TCP, CAN Bus, or REST APIs is an asset.
- Excellent technical writing and documentation skills.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Able to work full-time from our Markham office.
