Role overview:
Work as part of an agile SCRUM team to enhance existing software and fix bugs based on requirements from Product Owners and customers. Support the training team with data conversions, and assist with internal infrastructure, technical support/trainer support, and other projects as needed.
Key responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Product Owners/Lead Developer on long-term software strategy and solution options.
- Organize and document work in the ticket management system; assess impact on the customer journey.
- Follow Agile SCRUM: daily stand-ups, story refinement, acceptance criteria clarification, story pointing, and full participation in SCRUM ceremonies.
- Design, implement, and document code; research and resolve bugs at the source; use TDD where appropriate.
- Ensure clean builds (no new compiler errors/warnings), thorough developer testing, and proper use of a GIT repository.
- Refactor and optimize existing systems; research and implement improvements; maintain compliance with current security requirements and regulations.
- Participate with the Internal Networks team to set up/maintain servers, services, equipment, and security systems.
- Provide training on new features, coach technical support as needed, and handle data conversion end-to-end (receive data, assess, build tools, run pre-conversions, adjust, and complete final conversions).
Education:
- Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering preferred.
- Scrum experience or certification is an asset.
Experience:
- 2 to 5+ years of development experience, or an applicable Computer Science or Software Engineering degree.
- Leadership or coaching experience is an asset.
- Experience with visual object-oriented programming, preferably Delphi / RAD or similar
- (C#).
- SQL experience, preferably Firebird or Interbase.
- Experience with ticket management systems, preferably JIRA.
- Experience working with LLMs or developing AI integrations is an asset.
Location & relocation:
- Candidates must work on-site daily at our Red Deer, Alberta office (not a remote position).
- Reliably commute daily to our Red Deer office, or plan to relocate before starting work.
