Lead Hand - 310T Mechanic
Our Environmental Services shop is looking for a Lead Hand 310T Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, repair, and service mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems and components of vehicles while providing guidance and technical support to other technicians. This role offers the opportunity to work in a modern shop environment that services both diesel and Natural Gas–powered (CNG) Class 8 vehicles, making it a great fit for a mechanic interested in expanding their skills and taking on new technical challenges within alternative fuel technology.
This position includes a Lead Hand, and Evening Shift Premium.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Act as a resource to the garage staff in solving problems associated with repairs

Test and adjust repaired systems to manufacturer's performance specifications

Perform scheduled maintenance service, such as oil changes, lubrications and tune ups

Inspect and test mechanical units, such as engines, transmissions, axles and brake systems, to locate faults and malfunctions

Diagnose faults or malfunctions and confirm findings with supervisor to determine whether to repair

Repair or replace mechanical units or components using hand and power tools

Test and adjust units to specifications for proper performance

Complete reports to record problems and work performed

Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of systems including chassis, frame, cab, body, engine and drive train, air brakes, steering, and fuel, hydraulic, electrical and electronic systems
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Completion of secondary school is usually required

Hold a 310T Heavy Truck/Coach License, or 3rd year apprentice to be considered

Leadership skills with ability to coach and mentor others

Proven mechanical abilities in gas and diesel diagnosis and repair

Experience with routine/preventative maintenance operations
COMPENSATION INFORMATION:
The expected hourly rate range for this position is $28-45/hr. Placement within the range is dependent on a variety of factors including qualifications and experience.
