We are seeking a passionate and organized Patient Experience Coordinator to lead and support initiatives that elevate patient and volunteer engagement across the school of Health, Wellness and Sciences. This role is responsible for coordinating volunteer onboarding, managing data entry and reporting, and fostering meaningful connections with Patient Lived Experience Partners. A key aspect of the position involves recruiting and supporting patients who wish to share their healthcare journeys, helping to educate future health professionals through storytelling and engagement that centers patient perspectives.
The coordinator also provides support to the Health, Wellness and Sciences team, contributing to the advancement of inclusive practices and ensuring that all engagement activities reflect the college’s commitment to equity and respect. Collaboration with internal stakeholders is essential to align efforts with program goals and organizational priorities. The successful candidate will help cultivate a positive, inclusive environment that embodies the college’s values of respect, accountability, and quality care.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

Identify, recruit, on-board, and support patients interested in sharing their healthcare journeys including orientations, preparing materials etc.

Maintains volunteer files and records and ensures completion of compliance requirements including training modules, confidentiality agreements etc.

Acts as a liaison between volunteers, program teams and internal departments to ensure readiness for placement.

Assists with follow-up communication to ensure volunteers have the necessary tools, information and contacts to succeed in their role

Plan and coordinate events, discussions, and presentations featuring patient speakers.

Organizes specific events such as training sessions and appreciation activities including tracking RSVPs, coordinating venues and preparing materials

Work closely with students and patient volunteers to ensure a meaningful exchange of experiences

Works closely with the Program teams to support the coordination and operation of the Patient Lived Experience Program

Foster an inclusive environment, ensuring representation from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and health challenges.

Build relationships with hospitals, professional associations, and healthcare organizations to expand program outreach.

Promote the Patient Lived Experience Program and associated activities to internal and external partners, including students, faculty, and community partners.

Collaborate with program teams and college marketing channels to support awareness of events, initiatives, and volunteer opportunities.

Develop and implement outreach strategies to recruit Patient Lived Experience Partners through community connections, healthcare organizations, and professional networks.

Represent the program at events, information sessions, and stakeholder meetings to enhance visibility and engagement.

Support the development of communication materials (e.g., promotional content, event communications) aligned with Georgian College standards

Oversee scheduling, communications, and documentation related to program activities.

Gather feedback to continually refine and improve program offerings.

Tracks and organizes ongoing metrics and feedback to identify areas of improvement and streamline processe

Maintains accurate records of Patient Lived Experience Partner events, meetings and feedback sessions

Supports the collection and analysis of qualitative feedback shared by Patient Lived Experience Partners to help inform process improvement initiatives

Identifies quality indicators and participates in initiatives to achieve continued volunteer and program satisfaction

Collaborate with the program team to ensure the Patient Lived Experience Program meets Accreditation Canada – Equal standards, integrating patient perspectives into curriculum development and maintaining documentation for accreditation requirements.

Create opportunities for students from various health disciplines to collaborate and engage with patient experiences, fostering teamwork, communication, and a deeper understanding of integrated, patient-centered care.

Establish and manage a Living Library where students interact with individuals who have experienced the healthcare system, ensuring diverse representation and meaningful discussions centered on equity, diversity, and inclusion.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Successfully completed a three-year degree or diploma in Human Resources, Health Professions or related discipline. Additional certification in volunteer management is preferred.

5 years experience within a healthcare or nonprofit environment preferred

Proven understanding of volunteer management and engagement principles and cycle

Proven innovative volunteer program development

Communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills

Proven ability to work independently as well as within a team environment
