We currently have a full-time position available for a Billing Systems Analyst on our Accounting team. This role will be located in our Edmonton office. Reporting to the Billing Manager, this role combines expertise in billing operations with process and system analysis skills. This role involves validating billing data, performing system testing, managing defects, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance billing accuracy, efficiency, and compliance. The analyst ensures that system upgrades, enhancements, and new software features are rigorously tested and issues are resolved promptly to minimize disruption to financial operations.
What You’ll Do:
- Analyze and evaluate existing billing systems and processes for efficiency and accuracy
- In collaboration with the Senior Billing Analyst, identify, document, and manage defects using tools such as JIRA or related defect tracking systems
- Collaborate with IT and QA teams, to facilitate billing defect resolution
- Conduct user acceptance testing (UAT) and ensure billing business requirements are met
- Develop and execute regression test cases to validate system changes
- Assist in system upgrades, enhancements, and integrations
- Along with the Senior Billing Analyst provide technical troubleshooting to the Billing Team
- Assist with preparation and presentation of system and process training to new and existing billing staff
- Investigate billing discrepancies and implement corrective actions for system and process improvements
- Triage system alert emails to determine resolution pathway
- Generate a variety of reports and detailed analyses on billing volumes, Accounts Receivables and collections for management review
- Assist with investigating and resolving complex billing issues and account reconciliation discrepancies
- Assure that processes are compliant with regulatory requirements and company policies
- Participate in internal and external audits through the provision of requested documentation and information
What You’ll Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Information Systems or a related field
- Project Management or Business Analysis education is an asset
- 3+ years of experience in billing, financial analysis, or systems testing; experience with complex billing systems preferred
- Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Excel, and working with ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks). Experience with Guidewire Billing Center is a desirable asset.
- Demonstrated experience with system testing, defect tracking, and UAT processes
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to liaise with technical teams and business stakeholders
- Familiarity with test management and collaboration tools (e.g., JIRA, Azure DevOps, Visio)
- Prior experience coordinating cross-functional billing system projects and software implementation
- Ability to conduct training sessions for end-users on system functionalities and updates
- Proactive approach to process improvement and automation in billing workflows
- Knowledge of compliance standards and financial audit requirements
