Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Excavator Operator with a minimum of 10 years of experience in water and sewage infrastructure projects. This role is ideal for an operator who understands not only how to run an excavator, but how water and sewer systems are installed and how to work seamlessly with ground crews during installation.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate excavators safely and efficiently on water and sewer infrastructure projects
- Excavate trenches for water mains, sewer lines, services, and tie-ins
- Perform general civil excavation work including backfill, grading, and site preparation
- Work closely with field personnel installing pipes, fittings, valves, manholes, hydrants, and services
- Understand pipe installation requirements such as grade, alignment, bedding, and cover
- Maintain awareness of underground utilities and jobsite safety requirements
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and report maintenance issues
- Follow company safety policies and project specifications at all times
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of excavator operating experience
- Experience working on water and sewage infrastructure projects
- Strong understanding of water and sewer line installation processes
- Ability to work efficiently with pipe crews and field personnel
- Solid knowledge of trenching, excavation safety, and civil construction practices
- Valid driver’s license
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and teamwork skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with municipal infrastructure
- Familiarity with Alberta civil construction standards
- First Aid, CSTS, or other relevant safety certifications a plus
