Heavy Equipment Operator

Available Positions: 1-2 Heavy Equipment Operators
Job Description
As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you can demonstrate proficiency in all aspects of heavy equipment operations including loading various materials such as earth, rock, contaminated soil, etc. into trucks for removal, disposal, and/or transport and can operate equipment as it applies to loading trucks, cut to fill, trenching, ditching, sloping, hauling, etc. Good communication skills for the ability to communicate with supervisors, co-workers, etc. in a courteous, professional manner and maintaining a positive attitude at all times.
Qualifications & Requirements (not limited to)
- Minimum 1 year experience with pipeline trenching, digging near live pipe, and intergrity digs.
- Ability to follow direction and attention to detail
- Must follow industry and company polices, safe work practices & procedures
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, labour-intensive environment
- Must be willing to work outdoors in fluctuating climates (hot, cold, wet) and environmental conditions
- Valid Safety and/or Operator Tickets an asset (i.e. , H2S Alive, CSTS, OSSA Fall Protection, OSSA Confined Space and Standard First Aid with CPR, Skid Steer Operator Certificate, etc.)
- Previous oil & gas construction and maintenance experience an asset
- Ensure proper attachment is used, i.e., digging bucket, wrist twist, etc.
- Conduct a pre-operational equipment inspection checklist before operating (mechanical & safety inspections) and perform necessary maintenance and repairs
- Report all incidents, near-misses and damage of the equipment to site supervision
- Ability to identify hazards
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence and clean driving record
- Be willing to work evenings, weekends, and overtime when necessary
Training Requirements (not limited to) – training will be arranged if required
- WHMIS 2015
- Transportation of Dangerous Goods
- CSTS
- H2S Alive
- Ground Disturbance Level II (required)
- Cargo Management
- First Aid with CPR considered an asset
