Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Welder Repair Technician to join our team. This role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining Welding machines. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in welding, electrical systems, and mechanical troubleshooting, providing exceptional service to our clients and ensuring equipment operates at peak performance. This position offers an opportunity to work with diverse tools and technologies in a dynamic environment.
Duties
- Perform welding repairs using various techniques including Stick, MIG, TIG, and arc welding to restore equipment functionality
- Diagnose and repair welding machines, plasma cutters, and related equipment
- Troubleshoot electronic boards, power circuits, contactors, relays, transformers, rectifiers, IGBTs, SCRs, and control systems
- Test machines under load and verify proper welding output
- Read wiring diagrams, service manuals, and technical schematics
- Perform preventative maintenance and general service work
- Repair both shop-based and field-service machines when required
- Assist with calibration and testing procedures
- Maintain clear repair notes and communicate findings with the team
- Work on major brands such as Lincoln Electric, Miller, ESAB, Hypertherm, and similar equipment
Experience
- Experience repairing welding machines or similar industrial equipment
- Strong electrical and electronic troubleshooting skills
- Ability to use multimeters, clamp meters, load banks, and diagnostic tools
- Comfortable working with single-phase and three-phase equipment
- Ability to read electrical schematics and service diagrams
- Knowledge of inverter-based welding machines is an asset
- Experience with engine-driven welders, generators, small engines, or diesel/gas machines is a strong asset
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Valid driver’s licence is preferred
Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with welding equipment repair and understands both the electrical and mechanical side of the machines. We are especially interested in someone who can troubleshoot electronic faults, diagnose no-output issues, repair control problems, and work confidently on industrial welding equipment.
