Job Summary
The Commodity Tax Analyst will be expected to perform a number of functions relating to sales tax and stewardship programs.
Daily tasks and responsibilities
- Responsible for the analysis of many large files by means of BI, Excel, Access, PowerPivot, Cognos or any other tool as they relate to sales transactions.
- Responsible for the reconciliation of complex accounts.
- Responsible to perform period end analysis and post the relevant journal entries.
- Responsible for the preparation of sales, tobacco tax and/or environmental fee remittances.
- Assist with the maintenance of databases on articles and vendors for tax or eco fee purposes.
- May be required to communicate with buyers, the accounting department, suppliers, the government and certain members.
- Perform and coordinate internal audit and compliance reviews.
- Assist in updating training material geared for internal staff.
- Work on projects or tasks as required.
Qualifications
- Education/Training: Bachelor’s in Commerce with specialization in accounting or finance is required.
- Experience: A minimum of two years of experience as an analyst or equivalent is required. Experience must demonstrate a high level of autonomy and the ability to manage complex reconciliations beyond clerical processing.
- Knowledge/Skills: Strong analytical skills, is required. (Candidates will be tested).
- Excellent knowledge of business software applications (Word, PowerPoint, Access, Google and Excel), is required. (Candidates will be tested).
- Strong communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills, are required (Candidates will be tested).
- Must have proven strong time-management and organizational skills.
- Bilingualism, written and spoken (French/English), is preferred.
- Knowledge of sales tax, is preferred.
- Knowledge of Iseries (AS-400), SAP and/or Vertex is preferred.
- Must be very comfortable working with numbers and formulas.
- Motivated self-starter with ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Proven ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Must manage different priorities with precision and attention to detail while meeting deadlines.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Autonomy, initiative, and must have a strong sense of responsibility.

Pay: $79,000.00-$94,000.00 per year
