Our client, a manufacturing company located just outside of Niagara area looking for a Senior Buyer to join their team.
Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Buyer to join our team in Port Colborne, Ontario. Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, the Senior Buyer will support the organization by managing sourcing activities, supplier relationships, and contract negotiations to ensure cost effectiveness, supply continuity, and alignment with business needs.
What you will do in this role:
- Develop and maintain the local Procurement strategy, including spend analysis, supplier segmentation, and performance targets in accordance with the global category strategy
- Supports identification and prioritization sub-categories suitable for global sourcing based on e.g., spend scale, supplier market, and logistics economics
- Lead sourcing, negotiation, contracting, and supplier performance management for locally managed materials
- Ensure contract compliance and coordination within procurement for implementation
- Monitor supplier markets, identify risks, and propose mitigation or value-creation initiatives
- Support the harmonization of specifications across sites
- Establish and drive local saving initiatives and supports global saving projects
What you will bring to the role:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in strategic sourcing and/or buying within manufacturing or process industries
- Proven experience in RFX development, supplier negotiations, and contract drafting
- Demonstrated success in delivering cost savings, contract compliance, and supplier performance improvements at a site or cluster level
- Strong understanding of risk and compliance management within procurement
- Broad knowledge of local and regional market dynamics, including supplier landscapes, logistics cost drivers, and technical specifications
- Ability to evaluate when global standardization offers greater value than localized sourcing approaches, considering market structure, freight cost share, and supplier footprint
- Experience negotiating commercial agreements (minimum 5 years)
- Proficiency with ERP systems and e-sourcing tools, including benefits tracking
- Strong analytical skills with advanced Microsoft Excel experience
- Experience with SAP considered an asset
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively with production, quality, finance, and other internal teams
- Strong professional communication skills with both suppliers and internal stakeholders
- Proven ability to make data-driven decisions, manage escalations, and resolve issues effective duties responsibility and efficiently.
