Description: The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team, collaborating on the delivery of holistic, comprehensive care and support to patients/residents and families. The LPN must be able to team lead effectively on their own. The LPN works to the full scope of practice in providing safe, quality care in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the AUPE Auxiliary Nursing Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications:
Required Qualifications: Graduate of a Practical Nursing program or recognized equivalent required. Active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides of Alberta (CLHA). Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Graduate of a Licensed Practical Nurse program. Current and active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (C.L.P.N.A.) required. Heart and Stroke Foundation BLS Level C Health Care Provider is required. Experience in mental health (Geriatric Psychiatry) or related settings required. Ability to provide leadership and function as a team member. Ability to work independently. Ability to work in a fast paced and, at times, highly stressful environment. Must be able to speak, read, and write English fluently. Strong assessment skills to recognize and respond appropriately to changes in patients' behaviour. Ability to recognize, assess and act upon patients in acute mental health crisis, such as delirium. Strong communication skills and ability to adapt communication style to meet patient needs. Good organizational and conflict resolution skills. Excellent time management skills. Proven dependability. Ability to be objective in decision making.
Preferred Qualifications:
Current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI) training preferred. Current beLITE training preferred. I.V. certification and current Alaris pump training preferred. Experience with Connect Care preferred.
