The Faculty of Science comprises the Departments of Biochemistry & Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics & Statistics, and Physics & Astronomy, as well as the School of Earth & Ocean Sciences. These departments are coordinated by the Dean of Science, who is responsible for administration, academic standards, and faculty, staff and student welfare.
As part of the University’s Accessibility Plan, the Faculty of Science is committed to creating inclusive and equitable learning environments that support the achievement and well-being of all students. Within the Faculty of Science, timed assessments/exams are a common means of assessing students’ mastery of course content. However, timed assessments of this type can create barriers to students’ ability to fully demonstrate their understanding for students with disabilities, necessitating the provision of accommodated conditions to ensure that all students are able to equitably participate in the assessment.
Working closely with instructors, departmental staff and the Faculty office, and reporting to the Associate Dean Academic of the Faculty of Science, the Accommodated Exams Assistant will support the scheduling, coordination and invigilation of timed assessments/exams for Science students in large enrolment classes.
This role ensures that the exams are conducted fairly, confidentially, and in accordance with university policies and accessibility standards.
