Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Pharmacy Assistant to support our pharmacy operations and provide excellent patient care. This role is ideal for someone interested in healthcare who enjoys a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and is eager to grow within the field.
Key Responsibilities
Patient & Customer Care
- Greet and assist patients in a professional and courteous manner
- Respond to phone inquiries and assist with refill requests and general questions
- Provide support and guidance to patients under pharmacist supervision
- Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with privacy regulations
Dispensing & Pharmacy Support
- Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing prescriptions accurately
- Count, label, and package medications
- Enter and update patient and prescription information in the system
- Prepare blister packs and assist with medication organization
Inventory & Operations
- Stock shelves and monitor inventory levels
- Check and manage medication expiry dates
- Receive and verify orders against invoices
- Coordinate returns of expired or incorrect products
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy workspace
Administrative Duties
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation
- Process insurance claims and resolve basic claim issues
- Support general workflow to ensure efficient daily operations
Qualifications & Skills
- Previous pharmacy or healthcare experience is an asset (but not required)
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Basic computer skills (experience with Propel Rx is an asset)
- Willingness to learn and grow within the role
