Position Summary
The Quality & Food Safety Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and maintaining the facility's Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Food Safety, Regulatory Compliance, and Certification Programs. This position supports the implementation, execution, and continuous maintenance of the company's Quality Management System to ensure spice blending and packaging operations comply with company standards, customer requirements, and applicable regulatory and certification requirements, including BRCGS, HACCP, Kosher, Organic, and SFCR/CFIA requirements. The position serves as the facility's quality and food safety coordinator and reports directly to the QA Director.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily quality and food safety activities, including production line inspections, GMP verification, product inspections, sampling, testing programs, product release, and the control of non-conforming materials.
- Maintain and implement the facility's Quality Management System and Food Safety Program, including HACCP, allergen management, traceability, recall, sanitation, food defense, and corrective and preventive action (CAPA) programs.
- Coordinate activities required to maintain compliance with BRCGS, Kosher, Organic, SFCR/CFIA, and customer requirements, including document control, audit preparation, certification activities, regulatory inspections, implementation of corrective actions, and ongoing compliance.
- Act as the primary facility contact for customer and supplier quality matters, including technical questionnaires, specification reviews, supplier approval documentation, customer complaints, investigations, and root cause analysis.
- Coordinate internal and external laboratory testing programs and review results to verify compliance with product specifications and food safety requirements.
- Prepare, maintain, and update quality and food safety procedures, specifications, records, forms, and training materials.
- Deliver and coordinate GMP, food safety, and quality training for facility employees.
- Support new product introductions, label reviews, specification reviews, supplier qualification activities, risk assessments, and other quality or regulatory initiatives.
- Prepare routine quality, food safety, customer complaint, audit, and KPI reports for management review.
- Initiate product hold procedures, recommend production stoppage when food safety or quality concerns arise, and release products in accordance with company procedures.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, Quality Assurance, or a related field.
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in food manufacturing quality assurance or food safety.
- Working knowledge of BRCGS, HACCP, GMPs, SFCR/CFIA requirements, Kosher, and Organic certification programs.
- Experience participating in audits, customer complaint investigations, supplier quality activities, and CAPA programs.
- HACCP certification required; BRCGS Internal Auditor certification is considered an asset.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and quality management systems (SAP experience is an asset).

Pay: $60,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
