The MLA plays a vital role in supporting laboratory operations & ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care. As a key point of communication between patients, physicians, and the laboratory, the MLA contributes to the efficiency, accuracy and overall patient experience – and much more!

At this time this opportunity is scheduled a combination of 4, 8 and 12-hour shifts
As the successful applicant, you will do the following:
- Adult & Pediatric Phlebotomy
-
Patient instruction for patient collected samples
-
Performing ECGs
-
Sample accessioning and preparation for analysis including specimen integrity review
-
Preparation of referral laboratory samples compliant with TDG shipping standards
-
Manual test set up support including serology and molecular PCR
-
Routine equipment maintenance
-
Equipment checks and temperature monitoring of thermally controlled equipment

General clerical duties, e.g. transcription checks of results from worksheets to reports, filing or records, retrieval of records

Preparation of specimen collection kits

Inventory management
-
General cleaning of the lab/equipment, biosafety and housekeeping

Understands and performs duties in accordance with the policies, process and procedures of the Quality Management System (Accreditation Canada Diagnostic Requirements)
What You’ll Bring
Required
- Successful college completion of a Certified Medical Laboratory Assistant program
-
Medical Lab Assistant Certificate
-
Certified as a Lab Assistant by the Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) or Medical Laboratory Professionals' Association of Ontario (MLPAO)
Preferred
- One-year related work experience in a lab setting
- Phlebotomy and ECG experience

Medical clerical experience

Meditech experience
