Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Excavator Operator to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating heavy equipment, primarily excavators, to perform various excavation and site preparation tasks. This role requires a strong understanding of construction processes, safety protocols, and the operation of multiple types of heavy machinery. Candidates with experience in dozer, loader, backhoe, grader operation, and horizontal drilling are highly preferred. The Excavator Operator plays a vital role in ensuring efficient project completion while maintaining high safety standards.
Duties
- Operate excavators and other heavy equipment such as dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, and horizontal drills to perform excavation, grading, and site clearing tasks.
- Assist with site preparation including trenching, digging foundations, and moving materials as required.
- Conduct routine inspections of equipment to ensure proper functioning and report any mechanical issues promptly.
- Follow safety guidelines and protocols to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
- Collaborate with construction teams to coordinate tasks efficiently and meet project deadlines.
- Maintain detailed records of work performed and equipment used during each shift.
- Perform basic maintenance on machinery to ensure optimal performance.
Skills
- Proven experience operating excavators and heavy construction equipment such as dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, and Caterpillar machinery.
- Mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot minor issues and perform routine maintenance on heavy equipment.
- Ability to operate additional machinery including horizontal drills and paving equipment as needed.
- Strong understanding of construction site safety practices and protocols.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) is a plus for transporting equipment between sites.
- Excellent coordination skills with the ability to operate multiple types of heavy machinery efficiently.
- Knowledge of construction processes and familiarity with heavy equipment brands such as Caterpillar is preferred.
