Position: Job Developer
Program: CES – Career and Employment Services
Job Purpose:
The Job Developer assists primarily Trades Ready Training (TRT) clients who are unemployed and underemployed and looking for a job or training. The Job Developer is responsible for creating employment opportunities for clients by establishing and maintaining professional relations with relevant employers, identifying employment goals, helping clients return to work, find new work, or access employment and training opportunities.
Responsibilities include:

Develop and maintain relationships with relevant employers, associations and major industry actors to understand industry needs and identify job and hiring opportunities.

Match clients with appropriate employment opportunities based on skills, experience, and career goals.

Conduct employer outreach and build relationships with employers.

Promote clients to employers and support employment placements.

Provide employers with information about program supports and services, as applicable.

Provide one-on-one career and employment counselling services to clients in English, as needed.

Assist and connect clients with employers for job or hiring opportunities.

Assist in preparing and organizing hiring events such as job fairs, employer information sessions, recruitment days, etc.

Provide continuing support to clients through regular follow-ups, either by phone, in person or online and conduct other job search coaching services as needed.

Conduct and/or participate in cross-program/sectoral outreach activities in collaboration with other service providers.

Assist with report preparation and data generation as required by the program.

Contribute to the advancement and achievement of functional team goals in coordination with the other team members.
Qualifications & requirements:

Service-oriented: Demonstrated commitment to exceeding client and partner service expectations; culturally competent: familiar with serving clients from other cultures than your own; strong attention to detail and follow-up skills; self-directed; ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with service stakeholders; able to work on weekends and or some evenings.

Education: A university degree in a relevant or related field; a Career Development Certificate or CCDP designation is an asset.

Technical: Excellent computer and Internet skills,proficient use of MS Teams, Outlook, Word, Excell, Power Point, Google Drive, or other digital platforms; driver’s licence Class 5 is an asset.

Experience/Results Oriented: proven experience in establishing partnerships, employer connections, networking and labor market information and research will be an asset; experience in establishing partnerships, employer connections working with high-need immigrants.

Communication: Excellent communication and inter-personal skills, adapts communication to respond to the audience or situational requirements.

Speaking a second language in addition to English will be an asset.
