ABOUT THE ROLE
The Health Law Paraprofessional provides comprehensive legal and
administrative support to lawyers within the Health Law practice area. This
role plays a key part in file and case management, medical record review,
document preparation, and ensuring compliance with client standards
and litigation requirements. The position involves handling sensitive
medical and legal information with a high level of confidentiality and
professionalism.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage intake of new client matters and maintain organized physical and
electronic files in accordance with client protocols and litigation milestones
- Review, organize, summarize, redact, and audit medical records
- Prepare and assist with Affidavits of Documents, disclosure obligations, and
materials for Questionings, Pre-Trials, Trials, and expert reviews
- Draft, revise, and format litigation documents including pleadings,
chronologies, applications, assumptions of circumstance, expert instructions,
and summary judgment materials
- Perform quality control on Health Law documents to ensure firm and client specific
compliance
- Coordinate expert retention and milestone tracking
- Communicate with lawyers, clients, experts, and regulatory bodies as required
- Conduct billing audits, assist with invoicing and forecasting, and support
rate submissions
- Maintain precedents, databases, and reporting tools
- Provide training, mentorship, and support to health law support staff, in
collaboration with the Office Manager
EXPERIENCE
- Strong understanding of litigation procedures
- Excellent organizational, time management, and prioritization skills
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and document formatting, and proofreading skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively while maintaining strict
confidentiality
