We are custom HVAC equipment manufacturer based in Dundas, Ontario, specializing in custom air handling units (AHUs) and make-up air units (MUAs) for commercial and industrial applications across Canada and the United States.
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Gas Technician to join our production team. This role is responsible for the assembly, installation, testing, and commissioning support of gas-fired heating systems within custom HVAC equipment. The successful candidate will work closely with production, engineering, and quality teams to ensure safe, reliable, and high-quality equipment is built to industry standards.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, working with gas-fired equipment, and contributing to the construction of custom HVAC systems from start to finish.
Duties
- Assemble and install gas trains, burners, valves, regulators, venting components, and associated gas-fired heating equipment.
- Install, route, support, and pressure-test copper tubing and gas piping assemblies.
- Read and interpret gas train schematics, piping diagrams, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
- Install and connect gas controls, safety devices, ignition systems, and combustion components.
- Assist with equipment start-up, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning activities.
- Perform leak testing and verify proper operation of gas systems in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
- Conduct inspections and quality checks throughout the assembly process.
- Safely use hand tools, power tools, tubing benders, flaring tools, and other fabrication equipment.
- Assist with material handling, inventory control, and organization of production areas.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Collaborate with engineering, electrical, and production teams to meet project schedules and production goals.
- Follow all company safety policies and applicable gas and HVAC industry regulations.
Skills & Qualifications
- G2 Gas Technician license required; G1 license considered an asset.
- Experience installing, servicing, or assembling gas-fired equipment.
- Knowledge of natural gas and propane systems, gas trains, burners, and combustion controls.
- Experience working with copper tubing, pipe fitting, brazing, and mechanical assembly.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment.
- Forklift experience is an asset.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team environment.
