We are looking for a Prepress / Industrial Designer who understands how ideas turn into real, physical products.
This is a hands-on, production-focused role, not a marketing graphic design position.
About the Role
Prepress at BOOM is the core of the operation.
You will be responsible for taking incoming artwork and turning it into production-ready files, shop drawings, and layouts that actually work in the real world.
You will also play a key role in problem solving, planning, and supporting production, ensuring jobs are done right the first time.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Set up and prepare files for large format printing, signage, and custom displays
- Review incoming artwork and identify issues before production
- Create shop drawings, layouts, and production proofs
- Build files for paneling, tiling, scaling, and installation accuracy
- Develop cut paths, white layers, and production layers
- Assist in custom builds, packaging, and 3D display concepts
- Work closely with sales, estimating, and production teams
- Provide input on materials, production approach, and feasibility
- Troubleshoot issues related to resolution, fonts, layers, scaling, and materials
- Track file setup time and support quoting accuracy
- Help ensure projects are delivered efficiently, profitably, and at a high level of quality
- Step in when needed to help move jobs through production

You should understand not just how something looks — but how it gets built, printed, and installed.
Required Experience
- 3–5+ years working in prepress, signage, or large format printing
- Strong experience with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign
- Experience with wide format print production is essential
- Experience creating shop drawings / production layouts
- Working knowledge of materials, substrates, and installation considerations
- Strong understanding of CMYK vs Pantone and print production setup
- Ability to troubleshoot file issues and prepare files properly for production
Strong Assets (Will Set You Apart)
- Experience with industrial design, packaging, or structural design
- Experience creating dielines or custom packaging layouts
- Knowledge of SketchUp, AutoCAD, or similar tools
- Experience with CNC cutting, fabricated displays, or dimensional signage
- Understanding of installation challenges and real-world applications

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $52,000.00-$60,320.00 per year
