Amberstone Law is seeking an Associate Lawyer to join its Calgary office.
The successful candidate will work primarily in civil/commercial litigation, corporate and commercial matters and will be expected to independently manage files, communicate with clients and opposing counsel, meet deadlines, and move matters forward efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Independently manage assigned client files;
- Draft pleadings, applications, affidavits, briefs, agreements, correspondence, and other legal documents;
- Attend court applications, questioning, mediations, negotiations, and other proceedings as required;
- Handle residential and commercial real estate transactions;
- Assist with corporate/commercial transactions, including business purchases and sales;
- Provide clear and practical legal advice to clients;
- Maintain proper file management, diarization, reporting, and billing practices; and
- Work effectively with the firm's lawyers and support staff.
Qualifications
- Member in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta;
- 1–3 years of post-call experience preferred;
- Experience in one or more of civil litigation, commercial litigation, or corporate/commercial law;
- Strong drafting, research, analytical, and advocacy skills;
- Ability to manage files and deadlines with limited supervision;
- Professional and effective client communication;
- Strong attention to detail and judgment; and
- Ability to work efficiently in a busy practice.
