Job Description
Our team is expanding. We are currently seeking an experienced and hands-on Welding Team Lead to support our shop operations.
This is a working leadership role, responsible for the safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of all welding activities. The successful candidate will lead by example, actively working alongside the crew while overseeing daily operations, maintaining productivity, and ensuring strict adherence to safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team of welders and apprentices on assigned projects
- Ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with 4M and customer-specific OHSE standards
- Interpret and execute work based on drawings, WPS, and specifications
- Mentor and support team members through hands-on leadership and guidance
- Maintain clear communication between crews and management
- Support continuous improvement in welding processes, efficiency, and safety
Qualifications
- Journeyperson Welder certification (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 5+ years of welding experience, with leadership or supervisory experience preferred
- Proven ability to lead crews and manage work scopes
- Strong knowledge of welding processes (SMAW, FCAW, GMAW) and industry standards
- Experience with heavy equipment, mining, or industrial environments is a strong asset
- Strong understanding of OHSE regulations and safe work practices
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, procedures, and specifications
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills
- Valid driver’s license with a clean abstract
- Self-starter with the ability to work in fast-paced, high-demand environments
