DZ Driver / Ground Support Technician

Position Summary
The DZ Driver / Ground Support Technician is responsible for safely transporting equipment, water, fuel, chemicals, and support personnel to and from aerial application job sites. This position plays a critical role in maintaining efficient helicopter operations by ensuring all ground support activities are conducted safely, professionally, and in compliance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Transportation & Logistics
- Operate company DZ-class vehicles safely and professionally.
- Transport spray equipment, tanks, pumps, fuel, tools, and supplies between operational sites.
- Conduct daily vehicle inspections and maintain accurate logbooks.
- Secure loads in accordance with applicable transportation regulations.
- Assist with site setup, mobilization, and demobilization activities.
Ground Support Operations
- Assist with helicopter refueling operations following company procedures.
- Prepare, mix, load, and handle agricultural products and chemicals as directed.
- Operate pumps, hoses, transfer systems, and support equipment.
- Maintain water supply and chemical inventory at operational sites.
- Support aircraft loading and turnaround activities to maximize operational efficiency.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all company safety policies and standard operating procedures.
- Comply with Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) requirements when applicable.
- Utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Report hazards, incidents, and equipment deficiencies promptly.
- Participate in safety meetings and training programs.
Equipment Maintenance
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of trucks, trailers, pumps, tanks, and support equipment.
- Identify and report mechanical issues.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment at all operating locations.
Qualifications
- Valid Ontario DZ Driver's Licence with a clean driver's abstract.
- Ability to obtain or maintain TDG certification.
- Experience operating commercial vehicles and towing trailers preferred.
- Agricultural, forestry, aviation, or heavy equipment experience considered an asset.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and performing manual labour.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Working Conditions
- Seasonal/Temporary position.
- Extended hours during peak operating periods.
- Frequent travel throughout Ontario and surrounding regions.
- Outdoor work in remote and rural environments.
- Weekend and holiday work may be required based on operational demands.
