Job Summary
Canadian Adventure Charters Inc. (CAC) is seeking an accomplished, highly strategic, and visionary Director of Finance to lead the financial planning, capital formation strategy, fiscal management, and financial growth initiatives of the corporation.
Reporting directly to the Board of Directors and Executive Leadership Team, the Director of Finance will play a critical role in shaping CAC's financial future by overseeing financial operations, budgeting, forecasting, investor readiness, financial reporting, capital structuring, risk management, and long-term financial sustainability.
The successful candidate will possess extensive experience in complex financial management, large-scale marine operations, expedition tourism, luxury yachting, scientific research initiatives, infrastructure development, and international business expansion. This position requires an executive-level leader capable of supporting CAC's evolution into a globally recognized expedition, research, tourism, and marine development corporation while helping position the company for future public market opportunities.
The Director of Finance will support the development and expansion of CAC's state-of-the-art research explorer expedition platform, luxury adventure charter operations, Ultra-High-Net-Worth Individual (UHNWI) membership programs, online booking and e-commerce platforms, marine infrastructure projects, and international tourism initiatives.
This executive role will also contribute to the financial growth and strategic development of expedition tourism and scientific research operations throughout Newfoundland & Labrador, the Northwest Passage, Canada's Arctic regions, Alaska, Greenland, Iceland, the Pacific Northwest, and other international destinations.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Financial Leadership & Oversight
- Define and execute CAC's financial strategy in alignment with corporate objectives and long-term growth initiatives.
- Develop and manage complex financial models, projections, and investment portfolios ranging from $500 million to $10 billion.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, treasury functions, and financial planning activities.
- Ensure fiscal sustainability through long-term profit expansion initiatives and strategic capital deployment.
- Support investor readiness, lender engagement, grant funding applications, and capital raising initiatives.
- Assist in positioning CAC for future public market opportunities and large-scale institutional financing.
- Develop financial frameworks supporting corporate growth, acquisitions, infrastructure development, and international expansion.
- Drive implementation of CAC's mission, vision, and financial growth objectives.
Financial Management & Capital Formation
- Oversee all accounting, financial reporting, and audit activities.
- Establish and maintain strong financial controls, policies, and procedures.
- Develop and manage relationships with financial institutions, private investors, family offices, government funding agencies, and institutional lenders.
- Coordinate financing strategies for vessel acquisitions, marine infrastructure projects, resort developments, and scientific research initiatives.
- Support government funding applications, grants, tax incentive programs, and economic development opportunities.
- Monitor financial performance and provide strategic recommendations to maximize profitability and shareholder value.
Business Development & Operational Support
- Provide financial leadership supporting world-class expedition tourism, adventure charters, scientific research programs, marine operations, and luxury charter services.
- Assist in evaluating and financing marine infrastructure projects, mega-port developments, resort hotels, marinas, research facilities, aquariums, and themed tourism attractions.
- Analyze business opportunities, acquisitions, partnerships, and expansion initiatives.
- Support development of online booking platforms, membership programs, retail operations, and international tourism initiatives.
- Evaluate financial viability of new ventures, strategic partnerships, and revenue-generating opportunities.
Governance, Compliance & Risk Management
- Develop and implement financial governance policies and strategic planning initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with applicable financial, legal, regulatory, and reporting requirements.
- Maintain transparency and accountability in all financial activities.
- Lead enterprise risk management initiatives and financial risk assessments.
- Assist with mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and corporate restructuring activities.
- Prepare and present financial reports, forecasts, business cases, and strategic recommendations to the Board of Directors.
Stakeholder Relations & Strategic Partnerships
- Build and maintain strong relationships with investors, lenders, government agencies, Indigenous organizations, industry partners, and strategic stakeholders.
- Support CAC's growth within expedition tourism, scientific research, environmental stewardship, and marine innovation sectors.
- Participate in negotiations involving financing, partnerships, sponsorships, and strategic alliances.
- Assist in securing long-term partnerships that support CAC's mission and growth objectives.
- Support corporate social responsibility initiatives and emergency preparedness planning.
Human Resources & Leadership Development
- Foster a high-performance culture focused on accountability, innovation, and financial excellence.
- Mentor and support accounting, finance, and administrative personnel.
- Assist with recruitment, training, succession planning, and professional development initiatives.
- Support development of remuneration frameworks and performance-based incentive programs.
- Promote collaboration across all departments and operational divisions.
Communication & Professional Competencies
- Exceptional business writing, presentation, and communication skills.
- Strong ability to communicate complex financial information to investors, lenders, government agencies, and executive leadership teams.
- Fluency in English required.
- Additional language proficiency in French, German, Spanish, Mandarin, Norwegian, Arabic, Polish, or Russian considered an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to represent CAC professionally at national and international levels.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
- University degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Commerce, or a related discipline.
- CPA, CGA, CMA, CA, MBA, or equivalent professional designation preferred.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
Experience
- Minimum 10–15 years of progressive financial leadership experience.
- Proven experience in financial planning, capital formation, treasury management, and strategic finance.
- Strong understanding of marine industry operations, tourism, infrastructure development, scientific research organizations, or large-scale project financing.
- Experience working with investors, financial institutions, government funding agencies, and economic development organizations.
- Demonstrated success managing large-scale budgets and financial portfolios.
- Experience supporting corporate growth, acquisitions, infrastructure projects, and expansion initiatives.
- Knowledge of public company structures, capital markets, and institutional financing considered an asset.
- Experience working with executive leadership teams, boards of directors, and key stakeholders.
Working Conditions
Physical & Environmental Demands
- Travel throughout Canada and internationally as required.
- Periodic travel aboard expedition vessels, research vessels, helicopters, fixed-wing aircraft, and marine support craft.
- Occasional travel to remote, Arctic, and coastal operating environments.
- Attendance at conferences, investor meetings, government consultations, and industry events.
