Our client, a well-established Canadian leader in fire protection and life safety solutions, is seeking an experienced Sprinkler Systems Designer to join their growing team in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a diverse range of commercial, residential, industrial, institutional, and healthcare projects while collaborating with an experienced team of designers, project managers, and field professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and coordinate fire sprinkler and fire protection systems for a variety of building types.
- Prepare detailed construction drawings and layouts using AutoCAD and Autodesk Revit.
- Perform hydraulic calculations, material listings, and support project planning throughout the design process.
- Develop and maintain accurate 3D building models while coordinating with BIM teams to identify and resolve design clashes.
- Collaborate closely with estimating, fabrication, project management, installation, and engineering teams to ensure successful project execution.
- Review designs to ensure compliance with applicable NFPA standards, building codes, and local regulations.
- Mentor junior designers by reviewing work, providing technical guidance, and supporting professional development.
- Manage multiple design projects simultaneously while maintaining quality, accuracy, and project schedules.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of design standards, processes, and best practices.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Fire Protection Engineering Technology, Mechanical Design, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of experience designing fire sprinkler or fire protection systems.
- Strong knowledge of sprinkler system layouts, hydraulic calculations, material listings, and project coordination.
- Experience with AutoCAD and Autodesk Revit is required.
- Experience using HydraCAD is considered an asset.
- NICET certification, or the ability to obtain certification, is considered an asset.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to lead projects and mentor junior team members.
