Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced, high-energy Lead Restoration Technician to run on-site emergency mitigation and structural drying projects. In this role, you will lead field crews during the critical initial phases of property damage. You will be responsible for evaluating the loss, executing structural drying plans, setting up containment, and performing controlled demolition, all while ensuring full compliance with industry standards and insurance carrier timelines. Strong communication skills to coordinate with team members and clients effectively is Required.
Key Responsibilities
- Emergency Site Stabilization: Direct and execute emergency tasks including water extraction, structural stabilization, safety assessments, and physical containment setup (ZIP walls, negative air).
- Crew Leadership & Safety: Manage, train, and mentor junior technicians on-site. Enforce the strict use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and maintain compliance with provincial safety regulations.
- Structural Demolition & Remediation: Oversee controlled structural tear-out (drywall, flooring, cabinetry) and perform mold remediation and fire/smoke cleaning according to proper containment guidelines.
- Equipment Optimization: Professionally map and deploy specialized equipment (air movers, LGR/desiccant dehumidifiers, HEPA air scrubbers) based on calculated psychrometric data.
- Real-Time Data Capture: Take ultimate accountability for on-site field data, ensuring no documentation gaps exist between the field team and the office production managers.
Tech Stack & Software Requirements
- Encircle: Used extensively throughout the day to build digital moisture maps, input daily psychrometric/atmospheric readings, log equipment tracking, and take thorough, compliance-ready photo documentation.
- DASH (by Cotality): Used via mobile to update real-time, time-stamped project progress notes, log daily crew hours, and monitor job statuses for the office team.
- Xactimate / Symbility: Exposure to reading digital scopes. You will cross-reference the approved estimating line items to ensure your field crew executes the exact scope approved by the insurance carrier.
Qualifications & Skills
- Certifications: IICRC WRT (Water Damage Restoration) is strictly required. IICRC AMRT (Mold) or FSRT (Fire/Smoke) are highly valued assets.
- Experience: 2+ years of field experience in disaster restoration or structural construction, with proven experience leading small crews.
- Physical Stamina & Skills: Ability to lift heavy equipment, work in confined spaces (crawlspaces/attics), and a clean, valid driver’s license to operate company fleet vehicles.
Industry Note: Property restoration requires a rapid response to disasters. This position includes participation in a rotating 24/7 on-call schedule for after-hours emergency calls, particularly during seasonal weather anomalies (spring melts, heavy storms).
Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour
