Humanetics is a high-tech global industrial technology group. We engineer extraordinary safety, digital, and sensor solutions for critical environments to put humans at the heart of industrial design. We are the pioneers of crash test dummies and a leading provider of virtual simulation software, integrated crash test systems, precision sensors, specialized fiber optics, and laser-based material engineering. Our highly specialized solutions are used in the development of every car on the road today, space missions, guidance systems, operating theatres, biomedical devices, haptic surgery, energy generation, semi-conductor chip manufacturing, and many applications at the cutting edge of human innovation. Our sensor and measurement capabilities create data from critical environments and deliver precision tools to enable customers to answer critical questions and empower decisions that drive performance. When we innovate, humans thrive.
Role Purpose: Responsible for the design of innovative and engaging user experiences for Humanetics digital products — working AI-first, using agentic tools and workflows to compress design cycles and continuously pioneer new ways of working for the design function.
We are seeking a Senior Product Designer who has worked through an agentic AI transformation and come out the other side designing differently. You have moved beyond using AI as an autocomplete: you orchestrate agentic tools to go from problem statement to working, testable product experiences in hours instead of weeks, and you have a track record of bringing new tools into a design organization to drive compression — shorter cycles, fewer handoffs, higher fidelity earlier — and new ways of working for the whole team.
In this role you will lead the design of innovative and engaging user experiences for our products. You still need everything that made great senior designers great — an eye for clean and artful design, superior UI craft, and the ability to translate high-level requirements into intuitive, functional interfaces — but you now express that craft through an AI-native workflow: prompt-driven exploration, agentic prototyping in working code, and design systems structured so both humans and AI agents can build with them.
You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including customers, product managers, and engineers, to create intuitive, seamless, and delightful experiences for our users.
This is the ideal role for someone who wants to be part of a customer-driven organization while improving automobile safety across the world. Join us in Transforming the Everyday!
About You:
- You are passionate about designing intuitive, high-quality digital experiences that solve real user problems — and you believe AI raises the bar for craft rather than replacing it.
- You have lived through an agentic AI transformation of a design practice and can speak concretely to what changed: which tools you adopted, which rituals and handoffs you eliminated, and how much faster your team shipped as a result.
- You prototype in working code using agentic tools (e.g., Claude, Figma Make, Cursor, v0, Lovable), replacing static mockups with interactive, testable experiences that stakeholders can react to on day one.
- You build fast, customer-driven prototypes used to validate business requirements directly with users and stakeholders — then convert what's validated into production-ready designs without losing fidelity or intent.
- You drive compression across the design lifecycle — collapsing discovery, ideation, prototyping, validation, and handoff into short, continuous loops rather than sequential phases.
- You evaluate emerging AI tools constantly, run structured pilots, and champion adoption of the ones that earn their place — bringing the rest of the team along through demos, playbooks, and pairing.
- You collaborate with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to translate product goals into thoughtful, user-centered design solutions.
- You own the full design lifecycle — from AI-assisted exploration and wireframes through polished visuals and engineering handoff, increasingly delivering specs as structured, agent-readable artifacts rather than redlines.
- You simplify complex workflows through clear interaction patterns and usable, accessible design — including emerging AI-native patterns such as conversational UI, agent supervision, and human-in-the-loop controls.
- You use AI to amplify user research — synthesizing interviews, surveys, and usability sessions rapidly — while validating assumptions with real users before conclusions ship.
- You are comfortable building and maintaining a component library and design system from the ground up — tokenized, well-documented, and structured so both people and AI agents generate on-brand, consistent, production-ready output by default.
- You present your work confidently to peers and stakeholders, incorporating feedback to iterate and improve.
- You maintain a strong portfolio that shows not just polished outcomes but your AI-augmented process — and the cycle-time or quality gains it produced.
- You understand front-end development (HTML/CSS/JS) well enough to steer AI-generated code, collaborate with engineers, and respect implementation constraints.
- You keep up with the AI design tooling landscape as it shifts month to month, bringing fresh ideas and approaches to your work.
- You mentor other designers through the transformation — informal coaching, design critiques, and hands-on help adopting agentic workflows.
Tools and Technologies We Use:
AI and design: Claude (including Claude Code and agentic workflows), Figma (including Figma Make and Figma AI), Cursor, v0, Lovable, ProtoPie. Engineering stack: JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Flutter, Angular, React, Python, Java, Postgres, Kubernetes, Docker, GitLab, AWS. This list evolves quickly — we expect you to help evolve it.
Other Significant Role Requirements:
Supervision: Self-starter.
Travel: Up to 10% travel, including international.
Customer Focus: This is a visible position with a critical impact on the SW COE's productivity and other software teams. Internal and external contacts include all levels of employees within the company, vendors, division management, consultants, and other professional business contacts within the industry.
Critical Competencies:
Work Ethic: Self-directed, high energy, with the ability to own features and experiences end-to-end.
AI Fluency: Treats agentic tools as core instruments of the craft; skilled at prompting, orchestrating, and critically evaluating AI output; knows when to trust it, when to steer it, and when to overrule it.
Adaptability: Thrives amid rapid tool and process change; re-learns workflows as the AI landscape shifts; manages competing demands and deals well with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
Problem Solving: Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; gathers and analyzes information skillfully; develops alternative solutions; works well in group problem-solving situations; uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics.
Innovation: Displays original thinking and creativity; meets challenges with resourcefulness; generates suggestions for improving how the team works, not just what it makes; presents ideas in a manner that gets others' attention.
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in design, human-computer interaction, or a related field — or equivalent demonstrated expertise.
- 5–8 years of experience in UI/UX design for digital products, including recent hands-on experience in an AI-augmented or agentic design practice.
- A track record of introducing AI tools and workflows that measurably compressed design or delivery timelines (be prepared to share specifics: what you adopted, what you retired, and what it saved).
- Strong portfolio demonstrating your design process, problem-solving skills, and AI-assisted ways of working alongside engaging, intuitive outcomes.
- Proficiency in Figma and modern AI design/prototyping tools (e.g., Claude, Figma Make, Cursor, v0, Lovable, ProtoPie or similar).
- Experience building component libraries and rapid customer-facing prototypes used to validate business requirements, and carrying validated concepts through to production-ready designs.
- Experience with user research methodologies, including AI-assisted synthesis and analysis.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills, including guiding peers through AI adoption and new ways of working.
