Hiring: Lead Carpenter + Labourer — Revelstoke — Starts This Week
Mitch Gordon Construction is putting a crew together for an engineered deck build in Revelstoke. We have a building permit issued and are working to engineered structural drawings. Work runs from this week into October.
LEAD CARPENTER — $45/hr — starts week of Sept 8
- Forms — build and brace the footing forms and a 6" frost wall, and set nine sonotubes plumb and locked to one elevation.
- Pour day — screed and float nine pads plus a landing pad, working off a line pump.
- Posts and beams — laminate nine 4-ply treated posts and two 4-ply 2x12 beam lines, nailed and through-bolted to the pattern on the plan.
- Framing — flash and hang the ledger to the house, set 2x10 joists at 16" o/c with hangers and blocking, strap the underside, then sheet it in 3/4" T&G fir, membrane over top, and treated sleepers.
- Decking — composite boards, picture-frame border.
- Stairs — four 2x12 stringers off the frost wall, treads and risers, even rise and run.
- Railing — 15 posts and pre-built panels, matte black, plus a 42" stair rail off a field measure.
- Finish — fascia and trim, vinyl lattice skirting with an access hatch, and walk the framing and final reviews with me.
What I'm looking for: someone who can work from a sealed drawings and work to a schedule without being chased; comfortable with work that gets inspected and photographed before it's covered; own transportation ideal.
10-hour days, Monday to Friday, paid weekly. No weekends unless we both want them. I schedule around the people I hire, so reliability matters more to me than anything else on your résumé.
