About the Role
WOLF Advanced Technology is on the hunt for a full-time Sr. Engineer, Hardware to join our innovative, mission-focused engineering team in Aurora, ON.
You’ll play a mission-critical role in leading the design and development of complex mixed-signal hardware systems that push the limits of defense and aerospace technology.
In this hybrid role, you’ll work closely with cross-functional experts in software, firmware, and PCB design, driving projects from concept to successful integration. This is a hardware-focused position where hands-on problem solving, deep technical expertise, and rapid iteration are part of the everyday rhythm.

Responsibilities
- Lead design and development of complex mixed-signal hardware systems according to product requirements
- Develop comprehensive hardware functional specifications to align with product characteristics
- Effectively translate product requirements into complete designs including identification of hardware, firmware, software and mechanical sub-systems
- Conduct detailed feasibility studies to assess the practicality of proposed product design
- Carefully select components that fulfill technical specifications and operational demands while respecting availability/cost, and optimizing for performance and reliability
- Implement circuit schematics to translate hardware designs into practical, testable components
- Work closely with cross-functional teams including PCB engineers, software/firmware engineers, product managers, and quality assurance to guarantee seamless product integration and functionality
- Demonstrate competency in the use of lab tools and debug / analysis instruments
- Apply logical thought and debug approach in troubleshooting and circuit analysis
- Conduct product hardware bring-up
- Ensure hardware designs comply with relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements, maintaining documentation as necessary
- Assess the results of product testing to identify areas where systemic improvement may be possible in design performance and reliability
- Consistently follow and comply with defined company processes and workflows
- Act as promoter of corporate processes by suggesting productive enhancements and changes to workflow(s) as appropriate to help streamline work activities
- Provide effective presentation updates ensuring optimal use of shared meeting time with others
- Develop professional documentation that provides clear guidance on design details both internally to the corporation but also externally to the customer as appropriate
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning within the team
- Take ownership of assignments and work with minimal oversight
- Build valuable relationships with 3rd party design companies protecting the best interest of the corporation
- Oversee subcontracted design deliverables protecting the corporation's interests on reputation, schedule, quality, and cost
- Contribute to increasing the firm's public awareness in the industry by periodically attending technical conferences, and presenting suitable technical updates on behalf of the corporation
- Strive to maintain and protect corporate IP, systems, tools, data, and customer proprietary information
- Prepare well thought out goals and objectives that strive to both advance the individual but also connect individual plans to the corporate goals and strategy

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field; advanced degrees preferred.
- Proven experience with FPGA development, signal processing, and embedded system design.
- Proficiency in CAD software including AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, SolidWorks; experience with Revit is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles such as schematics creation, firmware development, and debugging.
- Hands-on experience with MATLAB, Python, Perl scripting for automation and data analysis.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes and system integration within a production environment.
- Knowledge of mechanical design tools like CAD for mechanical component modeling.
- Experience working with ARM processors and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics accurately.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail in debugging complex hardware issues. Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $110,000.00-$150,000.00 per year
