Big Brothers Big Sisters Grey Bruce and West Simcoe (BBBSGBWS) are seeking an energetic, community-minded, full-time Mentorship and Community Engagement Lead to join our growing team. We are a non-profit charity providing mentorship services to children and youth across Grey, Bruce and West Simcoe through school-based, community-based and group mentoring programs. Details of the Position:
The Mentorship and Community Engagement Lead plays a key leadership role in advancing and strengthening mentorship programming while cultivating strategic partnerships and community engagement opportunities across the region. This position provides leadership in program delivery, volunteer and mentor engagement, partnership development, community outreach and program oversight to ensure high-quality, responsive and impactful services for youth and families.
Working collaboratively with the Executive Director, youth, families, volunteers, schools, community organizations and local stakeholders, the successful candidate will help shape and enhance inclusive mentorship experiences that align with the mission, values and service standards of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada. The role also contributes to the strategic development and implementation of youth engagement initiatives, volunteer placements, group programming and community-based projects that foster meaningful connections and positive developmental outcomes for young people.
Responsibilities/Duties:
Mentorship & Program Delivery
- Serve as a key representative of the organization by providing comprehensive information about BBBSGBWS programs and services to prospective volunteers, youth, families and community partners
- Lead the intake and documentation process for prospective volunteers, youth, families and mentors, ensuring timely, accurate and confidential case management practices
- Assess youth and mentor eligibility, suitability and readiness for placement within appropriate mentoring programs, applying sound judgment and alignment with program standards and best practices
- Coordinate the recruitment, orientation, screening, interviewing and training of volunteers and mentors in accordance with National Standards, agency policies and risk management protocols
- Provide coordination and operational leadership for in-school, community-based and group mentoring programs across the service region
- Monitor and support mentor/youth matches in alignment with National Standards through ongoing case management, relationship support, coaching and risk assessment practices
- Maintain detailed case notes, documentation and statistical reporting through the agency CRM and case management systems, ensuring accuracy, accountability and data integrity
- Ensure program files, records and reporting metrics are maintained in compliance with agency standards, accreditation requirements and funder expectations
- Contribute to the strategic development, implementation and evaluation of new and existing mentorship, youth engagement and community-based initiatives to enhance service impact and organizational growth
Community Engagement & Partnerships
- Develop, strengthen and steward strategic partnerships with schools, community agencies, local businesses, service clubs, funders and youth-serving organizations to advance the mission and priorities of BBBSGBWS
- Identify and cultivate opportunities for community collaboration, sponsorship, volunteer engagement and in-kind support that enhance organizational capacity and program sustainability
- Lead community outreach and relationship-building initiatives to increase awareness, visibility and engagement with BBBSGBWS programs, services and impact across the region
- Support the development and implementation of partnership strategies that create opportunities for youth leadership, mentorship, community involvement and cross-sector collaboration
- Represent BBBSGBWS at community meetings, networking events, presentations, fundraising initiatives and collaborative tables, serving as a professional ambassador for the organization
- Foster and maintain positive relationships with donors, community partners, local stakeholders and volunteers to support long-term engagement and community investment in the organization
- Collaborate with the Executive Director to identify and pursue community partnership, sponsorship and funding opportunities that align with organizational goals and strategic priorities
- Support marketing, communications and promotional initiatives that enhance public awareness, community engagement and support for BBBSGBWS programs, events and campaigns
- Assist in the planning and coordination of community events, engagement activities and partnership initiatives that strengthen the organization’s presence and impact throughout the service region
Related Duties:
- Support the effective day-to-day operations of the agency through strong organizational, administrative and coordination practices
- Prepare and maintain reports, records and documentation required for organizational accountability, accreditation and funding requirements
- Contribute to organizational planning processes, internal projects and continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen agency operations and impact
- Participate in the development and implementation of agency policies, procedures and operational practices to support organizational effectiveness and consistency
- Maintain awareness of relevant legislation, privacy standards, confidentiality requirements and risk management practices applicable to agency operations
- Support financial accountability processes including the tracking and submission of receipts, expenses and related documentation in accordance with agency policies
- Attend and actively participate in meetings, professional development opportunities, training sessions and organizational activities as directed by the Executive Director
- Provide operational and administrative support for agency priorities, special projects and other duties as assigned by the Executive Director
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in Social Work is preferred. Consideration will also be given to candidates with education in Social Sciences, Business, Communications, Education, Public Administration, or a related field, as well as those with an equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible experience in youth services, community development, fundraising, volunteer management, or related non-profit work
- Demonstrated experience in management, youth engagement, mentorship programming, volunteer coordination, fundraising, partnership development, and community-based project management
- Proven ability to build and sustain relationships with community partners, funders, schools, and local organizations to support program growth and organizational impact
- Strong project management skills, with experience coordinating multiple initiatives, events, and timelines in a fast-paced, community-focused environment
- Solid understanding of youth development principles, including strengths-based, client-centred, and trauma-informed approaches
- Strong communication, relationship-building, and presentation skills, with the ability to represent the organization professionally in a variety of settings
- Highly organized with strong time management skills and the ability to balance competing priorities with accuracy and efficiency
- Ability to work independently with initiative, as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and experienced with CRM/database systems for reporting, tracking, and relationship management
- Valid Ontario Driver’s License, access to a reliable vehicle, and appropriate insurance required
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Police Check required
