Overview
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented General Warehouse Assistant to support our distribution and logistics operations. This role involves handling various warehouse tasks, operating heavy equipment, and ensuring the smooth flow of goods through shipping, receiving, and storage processes. The ideal candidate will have warehouse experience, mechanical knowledge, and the ability to operate equipment such as forklifts and cranes. Responsibilities
- Assist with warehouse distribution tasks including order picking, loading, and unloading shipments
- Operate heavy equipment such as forklifts, clamp trucks, cranes, and other machinery safely and efficiently
- Manage shipping and receiving processes to ensure accurate inventory control
- Load and unload materials using appropriate equipment while adhering to safety protocols
- Maintain organization within the warehouse, ensuring all items are stored correctly
- Support warehouse management system data entry for inventory tracking and order processing
- Perform heavy lifting as required for construction or warehouse tasks
- Assist in maintaining safety standards across all warehouse activities
- Support construction-related tasks when necessary, including moving materials and setting up work areas
Skills
- Proven experience in warehouse distribution, shipping & receiving, or related roles
- Mechanical knowledge with the ability to operate heavy equipment such as forklifts, cranes, clamp trucks, and load/unload machinery
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems for inventory control and order processing
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently
- Experience with order picking using various equipment such as order pickers or forklifts
- Knowledge of construction or heavy equipment operation is a plus
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work safely around heavy machinery and adhere to safety protocols at all times
- Prior warehouse experience is preferred but not required; training will be provided for specific equipment operation
