About Us
We're a chai cafe - six locations across the GTA, plus catering carts at events and a wholesale line supplying stores. Now we're building the bakery program properly, and we're looking for one person to own it.
This is not a follow-the-manual job. There's no corporate binder telling you what to make - you'd be writing it. What you develop in East York becomes the standard across all six cafes. If you've spent a few years executing someone else's recipes and you're ready for the recipe to be yours, this is that opening.
WHAT YOU'D DO
- Run daily production - bake, portion and finish everything that goes in the case
- Develop and spec recipes that pair with our chai - and write them so they hold up at any location
- Own ordering, inventory and waste for the bakery
- Hold the standard: consistent product, clean station, nothing goes out that you wouldn't eat yourself
- Bake for catering events - we cater grand openings and corporate events across the GTA
- Train bakery staff as the program rolls out to our other locations
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- 2-3 years of baking experience in a production kitchen, cafe or bakery
- Hospitality background - you understand service, pace, and what it means when a customer is waiting
- Comfortable working independently in the early morning and running your own day
- Solid on scaling recipes and keeping an eye on cost per unit
- Food Handler Certification, or willing to get it before your first shift
- South Asian or fusion baking experience is a real plus - not required if you're curious
THE HONEST DETAILS
- $24-32/hour, depending on what you bring. Reviewed at three months.
- Part-time to start - with a real path to full-time. We have six cafes and a bakery program that's only going one direction. We'd rather grow the hours with the person who built it than hire over them later.
- Early starts - roughly 8:30 AM
- Overtime paid at time-and-a-half past 44 hours per week, per Ontario ESA
- Free chai. Obviously.
