Your Opportunity:
The Wetaskiwin Hospital and Care Centre, is a busy 88 bed Acute Care and 79 bed Continuing Care facility. The facility’s Acute Care hosts a mix of General Medicine, Special Care, Palliative, Surgical and Obstetrics beds. The Wetaskiwin Pharmacy provides pharmacy services to both Acute and Continuing Care patients at the site as well as the busy Emergency Department. Wetaskiwin Hospital provides a supportive, multidisciplinary environment for pharmacists, where they provide specialized and general medicine care to patients as part of a collaborative interdisciplinary team, directly engaging with patients and focusing on clinical activities. The Pharmacy department is supported by a team of Pharmacy Technicians and Assistants, led by the Operations Manager for Central Zone North, working towards their full scope of practice. The Pharmacy also acts as a HUB for other rural facilities throughout the zone, through its provision of unit dose stock and custom packaging services.
Description:
As a Pharmacist I, you will be responsible for the safe, effective and efficient preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical services. You will manage medication therapy for patients, both initially and on an ongoing basis. In addition, you will provide assessment, intervention and resolution of potential or actual drug-related problems and oversee activities related to compounding and packaging.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. Current, provisional or transferable registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP) as a Pharmacist.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Additional Prescribing Authorization (APA) from the Alberta College of Pharmacist would be an asset for this position. Successful candidates not having APA will be expected to obtain it within 6 months of commencing in this position, dependent on eligibility. Pharmacy related experience in a hospital setting or in direct patient care providing comprehensive medication management services. Recent experience as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team. Experience with computerized medication order entry, and different drug distribution systems such as unit dose

Site based experience an asset. Demonstrated self-directed learning and continuing education. Demonstrated good time management including ability to switch priorities and multitask. Demonstrated excellent communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, good organizational and problem-solving skills. Self-motivated; able to work both independently and cooperatively in a team environment.
