We are currently looking for a Lead Hand – Landscaping Rehabilitation to join our team in Calgary. This is an opportunity for an experienced, hands-on leader who understands that productivity, quality, and safety come from strong field execution—not just direction.
This role is ideal for someone who leads from the front, builds credibility with their crew, and takes ownership of delivering consistent, high-quality results in the field.
Position Overview
Reporting to the Superintendent or Project Manager, the Lead Hand will oversee daily landscaping rehabilitation activities including black dirt placement, grading, seeding, sod installation, and site restoration. The successful candidate will combine technical skill with leadership capability to coordinate crews, manage day-to-day execution, and maintain high standards of safety and workmanship.
Success in this role comes from strong organization, sound judgment, and the ability to motivate and guide others while remaining actively involved in the work.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a small crew on landscaping rehabilitation projects
- Coordinate daily work activities to meet project timelines and quality expectations
- Perform and support hands-on work including grading, planting, sod installation, and general site restoration
- Operate equipment such as skid steers and mini excavators as required
- Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications
- Maintain consistent communication with project managers regarding progress, challenges, and site conditions
- Train, mentor, and support crew members in developing their skills and performance
- Complete daily field logs and documentation
- Uphold a strong field presence with a focus on practical safety and execution
What We’re Looking For
- 3+ years of experience in landscaping, construction, or site rehabilitation
- Previous Lead Hand or supervisory experience preferred
- Strong working knowledge of landscaping and restoration practices
- Ability to read and interpret site plans and specifications
- Experience operating landscaping and light construction equipment
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract
- Proven ability to safely haul and maneuver trailers of various sizes
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and accountability in the field
- Effective communication and team leadership skills
