About the Position
BAR is seeking a Senior Municipal Engineer for our Okanagan office to lead the Municipal team. This position will coordinate and manage civil design and construction activities on various projects under the direct supervision of the Manager, Okanagan Operations. More specifically, your duties and responsibilities will be to:
- Plan, schedule, organize, direct, control and evaluate projects from start to finish.
- Maintain timelines and budgets to meet overall project requirements.
- Prepare and manage changes on engineering deliverables.
- Ability to determine/understand project scope and estimate respective consulting fees.
- Prepare engineering proposal, tender and contract documents.
- Ensure designs conform to applicable codes, standards, regulations, specifications, and procedures with client requirements and cost estimates.
- Complete field activities including general reviews, completion reports and final documentation during construction.
- Liaison with client representatives, assignment of work to team members and coordination between disciplines.
- Provide leadership and supervision within the team.
- Conduct business development activities and build client relationships.
- Provide peer review support for engineering work and quality control checks.
About the Candidate
You will need a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with a minimum of 10-15 years of as a Professional Engineer registered with EGBC.
Other qualifications:
- Knowledge of industry standards and codes.
- Knowledge and experience with civil engineering design and construction.
- Experienced in design using AutoCAD Civil 3D and developing preliminary and detailed design drawings.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Ability to work independently as well as cooperatively with colleagues.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- A hands-on approach to problem-solving and an eagerness to learn.
- Valid driver’s licence with clean driver’s abstract.
- Work experience within the Okanagan and surrounding areas an asset.
